Fine Arts College Night

The HCPSS Fine Arts Advisory Council is sponsoring Fine Arts College Night, and evening for all parents and students, especially those currently in 8th – 11th grade, interested in pursing a higher education in Dance, Music, Theater, or the Visual Arts.  The event will include panels focusing on preparing for college, the admissions process, and collegiate expectations.

Date: Monday, October 11

Time:  7:00 – 9:00 pm (registration at 6:45 pm)

Location:  Long Reach High School (Old Dobbin Road)

Speakers include: Alex Righter, sound and music designer, Atholton alumni; Bill String, Long Reach High School Band Teacher; Cindee Velee, Cindee Velee Dance Studio; Dave Ballou, Director of the Jazz and Contemporary Music Program/ Composer /Improviser Towson University; Erica Helm, Professor Dance Department Shenandoah Conservatory; Eve Muson, UMBC Theater Professor, formerly of Olney Theater and Boston University; Gino Molfino Howard County Public School’s Visual Arts Resource Teacher; Kasi Campbell, award-winning director for the Rep Stage; coordinator of performance track; Karen Kennedy Director of Choirs, Towson University; Mark Coates, Coordinator of Fine Arts and Visual Arts, Howard County Public Schools; Megan Rogers, Admissions counselor from Maryland Institute College of Art; Michael Stepinak, Dean Shenandoah Conservatory; Mike Hewitt, Associate Professor of Music Education and Director of Undergraduate Studies, University of Maryland at College Park; Nathan Rosen, Atholton High School, Theater Arts Teacher; Rene Brozic Barger, Director Dance Company, Howard Community College; Ric Ryder, Broadway actor, coach, instructor in NYC and MD; Val Lucas, owner of Bowerbox Press painter, printer and bookmaker; Yvonne Erickson; professional actor, instructor, acting coach and director; and a number of current college students from a variety of schools.
